FASHION IS NOT ABOUT FITTING IN...and this I found out pretty late in life. As a teen all I wanted to do was fit in and be accepted into some sort of group; to belong somewhere. That, of course, never happened. I spent a lot of time on my own and that is ultimately where my passion for fashion came from (cheesy I know but very true). I needed something to latch on to. Something that I could be a part of no matter how I looked or what music I listened to or what I found attractive. In fashion I could be myself and my quirks would not be ridiculed, but celebrated. As time passes and I grow older I am learning to take more risks when it comes to fashion and not to be so hard on myself when I do get it wrong. We are all different. We think different. We live and love in different ways and therefore, dressing different and dressing true to ourselves should be encouraged and CELEBRATED. So the next time you reach for your comfort zone outfit, reconsider it. We are individuals and we were never meant to swim with the stream.
