Eye Spy

Finding make up for work can be somewhat daunting for me. Finding a balance between standing out and still looking professional is not some thing that comes easy for me.Lately, however,  that task has become a little less tedious due to the fact that I have found two absolute gems.

*Catrice Intense Eye Wet and Dry eyeshadow.

While this eyeshadow looks extremely gold and a bit much for work: trust me it is not. The gold shimmer is subtle and not at all too flashy for work. I will say I find that, when I wet my brush, application is much easier and the staying power increases. There is also no fall out as opposed when I don't wet my brush. I am thoroughly delighted with this eyeshadow.

*Catrice Absolute Eye Colour Quad

You know how annoying it is when you buy a quad and you only use one or two shades in the quad? Yep. This was not the case with this second beauty also from Catrice. I cant remember if that has ever happened to me. This is great for creating neutral daytime looks and also dramatic night out looks.  I also use one shade to highlight and the darkest one to fill in my brows. The fact that I get so much use out of this quad makes it such a winner for me.

*I can't remember how much I paid for either of these.

What do you use to create work appropriate looks? I would love to hear from you.

Life Lately

Hey everyone!

It's been a crazy few weeks for me. From my son starting day care to both my parents turning up ill in one week. Nevertheless, I have managed to not be completely miserable. Since I haven't posted  in a bit I thought it was the perfect time for a "life lately" post. As usual, its just a glimpse into my day to day life and a look at the things that make me...well...me. I hope you enjoy the post. If I'm not following you on instagram leave your handle in the comments section below.

New in: Revlon Matte Balm

Anyone who knows me knows I prefer eye make up to any other kind. This stems mainly from being teased as a child for having such big eyes. Fast forward a few years and I was looking for every way to make my eyes look more beautiful. Now I realize having big eyes is actually beautiful in it self.

Enough with the sob story however. Even though I am mostly a creature of habit. I couldnt resist buying these beauties from Revlon.  Apart from the convenient size and the amazing colour payoff; I also love the minty smell of the balms. It goes on smoothly and, even though its a matte formula, it doesn't leave my lips looking or feeling dry. I had to reapply once or twice during the day but I really didn't mind that. I am actually growing really fond of these matte balms. Who knows; I might just start to become a lip make up girl now.

Great packaging!

What's on your lips currently?

First impression : Revlon Photoready Skinlights Illuminator

On certain days I feel naturally glowy. Those are the days when I wake-up way before my alarm goes off. When my hair is behaving and my stomache seems extra flat. The days when my eyeliner is perfectly winged. For the other days I have discovered something just as amazing.

While browsing through the sale racks at Dischem I stumbled upon the only illuminator left . Now, I have read about illuminators before but, it never occurred to me that I might actually enjoy using it. I figured it was worth the experiment.

I love the packaging .
The formula is super lightweight so you don't waste time and energy blending. And speaking of blending; you can put on as much or as little as you and you won't end up resembling Edward Cullen. In fact, it is quite a healthy looking glow that you end up with. I usually put on a little bit on where the sun hits my face. I love the effect.

Have you used Revlon Photoready Skinlights Illuminator or something similar? I would love to hear from you.

Pedal to the Metal

I don't normally do posts on my mani's but I like this nail polish so much that I thought it deserved to be acknowledged.

This Sally Hansen gem really surprised me as I usually go for bolder colours. Looking at the bottle the colour seems somewhat silvery and also a little bit lilac. The same happens  when you actually apply it depending on where you are.

As simple as the hue is, it still makes a statement which is something I like. What is your favourite polish at the moment?

Featured nail polish : Sally Hansen's 330 Pedal to the Metal

The devil is in the details

"Fashion is what you are offered 4 times a year by designers and style is what you choose " Lauren Hutton

Yes, we are all exposed to the same collections from designers every year and yet, how we style these garments is what makes all the difference. Nothing inspires me more than seeing someone who is pushing the fashion boundaries. It is so easy to get lost in a sea of stylish people so, being yourself unapologetically, will set you apart from the rest of the crowd.

This is why I think accessories are the real style superheroes. Even if you are wearing the same old black dress as the rest of the world; what you add to that dress will ultimately make people sit up and take note. I love the idea of an over the top bag or a pair of unexpected shoes. Even a bright pop of colour or a few stacked rings.

The beauty of it all is that anything goes. If you have the confidence to pull off a look; nothing else really matters. Go forth and slay!
