Look posts and life lessons

Wow. Can you believe we are only a few days away from the new year? What a rollercoaster 2018 has been. I'm really surprised that I made it through without having some sort of a breakdown. It's been a rough one.

But let me not pretend 2018 was all bad. For starters, I got engaged this year to my best friend. My child is happy and healthy and excelling at school and I finally feel like I've found a balance between work and a social life. 2018 is also the year I made a conscious decision to put my mental health first. With the year riddled by so many celebrity suicides; it was no longer something I could take lightly.

Lastly, this year I learned to accept  this body of mine exactly as it is. I'm no longer walking around thinking I have be a certain size in order to be fashionable or stylish. I appreciate my curvier body and I work with it instead of trying to cover it up.

I'm not one to do look posts too often but I couldn't resist showing of my fanny pack :) While I love being on trend, comfort will always be my first priority. I just wanted to do a simple boots and jeans combo because this  is something I would actually wear on a regular day. I'm so glad my love convinced me to take some pictures. I hope you guys enjoy it.

What is your wish for 2019? I would love to hear from you .

These boots were made for...

Never in my life have I been so excited about a pair of shoes. When my boyfriend decided to get me my dream over the knee boots for my birthday I immediately started dreaming up a million ways I would wear it. As you can imagine...having a look in your head doesn't always translate perfectly in real life and that's exactly what happened to me.

I had a specific idea of how I wanted to wear it and when that didn't come together I was miserable. Miserable to the point where I wanted to cancel the plans I had . In an effort to cheer me up,  my boyfriend said something that really stuck with me. He told me that everything doesn't always work out the way we planned and that with fashion (and everything else) one should always be ready to switch things up and be flexible.

Yes, I went with a completely different look but, I still had an amazing time. (I didn't take any pictures however). I was a little ashamed of acting like a complete fashion brat but, it was mostly an eye opener for me. I really needed to stop being so fixated on the images I had in my head. I decided to wear the boots with some jeans and a plain t-shirt to run some errands. While the outfit is pretty basic; the boots give it a bit of an edge.

Denim+ Suede

I love look posts. I absolutely enjoy seeing what other bloggers wear on a day to day basis. If you read my blog on the regular you would have noticed that I don't do too many lookposts. Firstly, its because I have always thought that you needed a photographer following you around. And, secondly, I only like about every 200th picture I take of myself. Nevertheless, I have decided to get over it and just take some damn pictures.

Now of course these are not the professional fashion blogger pictures you are used to but, its a step in the right  direction. I wore this the other day when I was out to run some errands. This versatile stretch denim dress is a favourite of mine simply because it easily transitions from season to season. I paired it with stockings and my favourite suede boots to accommodate the chilly breeze.

Mind you, this was the one day I decided to use public transport. They ended up striking that same day and I had to walk home from the mall.Atleast I was wearing flats during my long walk home. Glass half full I guess.

I plan on wearing this dress so many different ways this summer and hopefully I will get to share those looks as well. Any look posts you would like me to have a look at? I'd love to hear from you.

Look post : the dress

I've never been too keen on taking pictures. I'll be the first to admit I am not photogenic. And, while I have grown to be ok with that (my talents lie elsewhere ), I  certainly enjoy seeing look posts on other blogs. Seeing what other people are wearing on a day to day basis is inspiring.

Since I have not yet mustered up the courage to do a regular look post, I have decided to do something slightly different. I wore this outfit to a Sunday lunch recently. I was immediately obsessed with this printed dress the moment I saw it. While it is perfect for summer; I can also wear it in the cooler autumn weather with stockings and a coat.

The shoes and necklace are some of my favourite statement pieces. I love the lace up and suede detail on the shoes and the necklace made me think of those Pichulik necklaces I have been dying to get. The snake skin detail on the side of the bag gives an otherwise very plain bag that wow factor. I cant wait to experiment with all these pieces and find new ways to wear them.

How stunning is this bag!?

A selfie of me in my favourite dress.

If you have posted a look on your blog recently please leave me the link in the comment section. I would love to read it. Other than that, have an amazing day!
