How to do the beanie

With the colder days fast approaching I decided to do a quick post on how to pull off a beanie. It is something I have been struggling with and, if you have the same problem, I hope these pictures help even a little.

Best friends and cocktails

I ask my best friend for her opinion on most things in life: music, fashion and even relationships. So I figured, why not have good old fashioned girl's day and ask her what she thinks about Original Cocktails. Last week I was sent this gorgeous hamper containing two of the most delicious flavours, Pina Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri. We decided they would be perfect to share over a day of manicures and magazines. While I love the Pina Colada (it made me think of a sandy beach and palm trees) my bestie thought the Daiquiri was much better.

These cocktails come in 6 yummy flavours. Mojito, Pina Colada, Margarita. Strawberry Daiquiry, Cosmopolitan and Singapore Sling. They are available in slim boxes and also individual packs which means not everyone has to be drinking the same thing. Which I think is really awesome. What I love about Original Cocktails is the fact that they are so convenient. Nobody wants to spend hours making the perfect cocktail.

I also have a party pack containing the 6 flavours to giveaway to one CKO reader. Please note that the giveaway is only open to South African residents and you have to be over 18 to take part in the giveaway. Also I have decided to add a little extra  ( I wont say what) simply because I think my readers are awesome.

Review:Yardley's 12 in 1 CC cream

Confession time: I have been a fervent BB cream user for a while now and I was slightly sceptical about using this CC cream. However, I had recently won this in a Glamour magazine competition and, not only was I extremely excited to use this, I was also determined to give it a fair assessment.

Why this product is right for you/me (according to the box)

*Instead of using a moisturiser, colour corrector, primer, sun protection and foundation, just use Yardley’s 12 n 1 CC cream.

[It is] –Multifunctional

        -Time saving

        -Travel friendly

It comes in shades for light, medium and dark complexions.

It is suitable for normal, oily and combination skin.

So what are the 12 benefits of Yardley’s CC cream

1.    Actively improves appearance of uneven skin tone

2.    For a flawless, radiant complexion

3.    Lasting hydration

4.    SPF 30

5.    Light to medium coverage

6.    Firmer skin appearance

7.    Contains photo luminescent pigments with Diamond core (brightens and enhances complexion)

8.    A light textured fast absorbing moisturiser

9.    Visibly reduces appearance of red, blotchy, hyper pigmented skin

10.  Age preventative properties

11.  Fights and covers up blemishes and imperfections

12.  Nourishing and rejuvenating with Advance Vitamin Technology

After two weeks of using the product, these are my thoughts:

There is definitely something special about Yardley CC cream. I have to admit that upon the first application I used a little too much and ended up looking rather washed-out. Also, I didn’t blend it very well and that didn't  help either. On the plus side, you don’t need too much product to get great coverage. Once I eventually got the application right, I loved what I saw. I was battling flu at the time I started using the CC cream, but you really couldn’t tell by looking at my skin. I looked happy and healthy, so Yardley, my dark circles and I thank you. This is the ideal product if you have limited time in the morning and also if you want coverage without the heaviness .With a sturdy cap and a bottle I can only describe as slim and sexy (yes I said sexy) you can easily carry it around in your handbag or make up bag. It glides on smoothly and blends in effortlessly to match your skin tone in a matter of seconds. Only thing that I would change about this product is that it really doesn’t smell like anything. Perhaps it is just me, but I like the products I put on my face to smell like something.

My shade is Medium 02 and use my fingers to blend. I also put on a little bronzer on after the CC cream. Overall, I would give this product 8 out of 10. Great, now I’m in a love triangle with BB and CC cream!

Fabulous Friday

Welcome to the very first Fabulous Friday- music edition. Simply put, this is Fab Friday based on music and music videos.
I wouldn’t consider myself a die hard fan of Beyonce’s music and it is really taking me quite a while to warm up to her latest album. However, one song (video) that I find myself singing along to often is XO. Perhaps it’s the catchy tune or the simple styling in the video, I don’t know, but I am definitely sold on this track.
Do you find fashion inspiration from music videos too?

Liebster love...again

I have come across some of the most amazing, most genuine bloggers over the last couple of months and recently my 4th Liebster Award nomination came from one of those lovely ladies. Insaaf over at “Dairy of a Jones blog” nominated me and you can check out her blog here .As I have posted about the Liebster awards 3 times already I am not going to bore you with the rules again. So lets get started.
Here are the questions Insaaf posed:

·        What is your dream job?

I would absolutely love to be a fashion buyer or a stylist to really famous people like Rachel Zoe. I also wouldn’t mind doing something that combines music and fashion.

·        If your life was a movie, who would play you?

I have always thought that Zoe Saldana would be a good fit. She’s a good combination of quirky and strong.

·        What makes you cry with laughter?

I swear my son is the funniest 3- year old I know. He does all these accents and pretends to be different characters all the time. Also, my brother and I love watching Ridiculousness on MTV.

·        What is your “go to” clothing/shoe item when you are in a hurry?

Definitely a pair of boyfriend jeans. You cannot go wrong there; it can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion.

·        If you could have one super power, what would it be?

The ability freeze time or make it so that I never lose anyone I love. Yep, I am a softie.

·        What annoys you the most?

Can I make a list? LOL no I am kidding. What irritates me the most are people who always create drama in order to be relevant. The kind of people that will look for the opportunity to create a little bit of drama anywhere, anytime.

·        Who inspires you the most?

A lot of people in my life inspire me and all of them in different ways. However, the person I admire the most is my mother. She is literally superwoman. She’s a nurse and she goes to work with a smile every day. Also she gives great advice.

·        If you could do a closet swap with someone, who would it be?

Last year I probably would have said Rihanna but, I am evolving everyday so I would say Kim Kardashian (post pregnancy) or Olivia Palermo.

·        What is the best gift you have ever received?

This is where I get a little soppy. My son is without a doubt the best gift I have ever received. He makes me a better, more hardworking, more caring person every day.

·        What is the weirdest thing about you?

This is a difficult one to answer because there are a lot of weird things about me. I am a little obsessed with cleaning and I find it difficult to sleep at night if things are untidy. Let’s just go with that for now

Style crush: Olivia Palermo

I didn’t care much for Olivia when she was in The Hills. She was just a little too pretentious and spiteful for my liking. However, I can’t fault the woman when it comes to her style. Olivia Palermo is synonymous with being chic and sophisticated. She is the quintessential designer darling often spotted front row at Fashion Weeks. This socialite is always polished and refined but, her street style gets her photographed just as frequently. I love how elegant and well put together Olivia Palermo is even when she is wearing ripped jeans and sneakers.

Just a quick post to show off my latest style crush. I absolutely adore Zendaya because she can switch effortlessly from this urban goddess to sophisticated style darling.
