Trend watch: Pyjama Chic

My style is mostly dictated by the fact that I have a strong dislike for being uncomfortable. I hate sore feet, pants that cut into my side an even unbearable bra straps.

Over the years fashion seems to be reaching a new level of comfort.
The old saying "suffer for beauty" seems to have been replaced by designers and brands opting for looks that are not a pain to wear.

Lately, the pyjamas trend has really caught attention. Don't get me wrong...this trend is not about being seen in your old cotton pyjamas. This trend is still sleek and sophisticated albeit super comfortable.

While the pyjamas as day wear trend is all about that laid back, effortless feel; its imperative that you keep the look polished. You don't want to look like you literally just jumped out of bed and hit the streets.

There are a few things you can do to ensure that your look does not seem unkempt. Make an effort with your hair and make up. While minimal make up is fine, going without it completely might make you look washed out.

Accessories and footwear are also important. Wear stand out accessories  (things you would never be able to actually sleep in) and footwear that feminine and delicate. This is what will elevate your look from drab to pyjama chic.

Are you planning to get in on this trend? Pyjama chic definitely sounds like a trend I could learn to love. Tell me what you think.

Review: Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nailpolish

It's rare and cherished occasion when I get to do my nails. To be honest, I loathe spending time on my nails only for it to be chipped a few days later. Needless to say, when I heard about Revlon's ColorStay Gel Envy nail polish, I was intrigued. Not only was the colour selection something that caught my attention; the diamond top coat stood out for me as well.

I recently bought two of the colours and the top coat. They retail for about R110 each but, trust me when I say it is worth it. I chose colour number 410 (Up the ante) which is a beautiful purple hue and number 240 (Dealer's Choice ) which is an amazing turquoise colour.

Both colours are so vivid and the colour pay off is stunning. For me, two coats of nail polish and a coat of the daimond top coat usually works well. After a week the colour still remains bright which is important to me.

This nail polish and top coat are really hard-working and it took me a while before I noticed any chips. It's safe to say I will definitely be purchasing a few more colours. If amazing colour payoff and longevity is your thing, I suggest you invest as well.

Number 420 (Up the ante ) on my nails.
Have you used this nail polish?  I would love to hear from you.

Let it slide

Giving the cold shoulder has never looked this good. The off-the-shoulder trend has been gaining momentum ever since bloggers, celebs and street style sweethearts have been showing us how effortlessly cool you can look if you let it slide (off the shoulder that is).

Lately, I have been super drawn to the uncomplicated feel that the off-the-shoulder look provides. While the idea of possibly being uncomfortable has nagged me a bit: I have decided to take my chances.

The look says "I know what I am doing but, I don't need to try too hard". Even though it is such an effortless look, paired correctly, it can look put together and polished. Whether you invest in an off-the-shoulder dress or a shirt to wear with jeans; the possibilities are endless.

While I am yet to buy something and indulge in the trend ; I have decided to search the internet for some much needed inspiration. As you see can, there are so many ways to wear the look. I hope you find bucket loads of inspiration here.

Have you tried this trend yet? I would love to hear from you.

TILL LATER, LAUREN!

Life begins at...Sobriety?

That seems to be the case for me. Let me start by saying, had it not been for a near death experience, I would certainly not be writing this...
