Do Dungarees.

I remember my first pair of dungarees, it was not cute at all. Although at the time I felt super cute in it. Luckily over the decades dungarees have evolved from "Bob the builder" to a style staple for fashion icons such as Rihanna and Alexa Chung.

With so many different styles and interpretations it has become relatively easy to find something that will suit your personality. Whether its floral, leather or good old blue denim you'll be sure to have your pick. Go long and fitted for night time or invest in a shorter version for spring. I for one, cant wait to indulge in the trend.

Identity Crisis

But..in this case...a good one! It's so extremely easy to get carried away with every little trend just because some celebrity is wearing it or your somewhat trendy friend makes it look halfway decent. However, everyone of us live , think, work and socialise differently so why on earth would you want to be part of the "sheeple" and fade into the crowd?

You don't have to ride the wave every time a new trend surfaces. In order to discover your true style you first have to know who you truly are. Ask yourself a bunch of questions before you go shopping. The last thing you want is to end up with clothes that make you feel frumpy and frankly, unloved! (Yes,ill fitting clothes can make you feel unloved). The more you understand your body type, work requirements and socializing methods, the more use you will get out of your wardrobe and the better you will feel about yourself.

So you see having an identity crisis is not necessarily a bad thing ( I am going through one myself). It will force you to discard all the layers you have taken on over the years and rebuild yourself from the ground up. Just as  you would like to be and not how you assume you should be.

MAYBE THIS WILL HELP....
  • Ask yourself who's style do you admire (local or international)
  • Cut out pictures from magazines and create your own style book (only things you genuinely like).
  • Make note of what you feel best in and how many similar items you own.
  • Don't be afraid that someone will insult your clothing choices (not everyone is going love your style)
  • And if all else fails, I have rounded up a few ladies below with their own distinctive style and personality, if they can be individualists, SO CAN YOU!
Kourtney Kardashian
Zoe Kravitz
Rihanna
Margaret Zhang
Aimee Song
Kim Kardashian West
Olivia Palermo

Review: L'oreal Pure Clay Glow Scrub

When I first saw the Loreal Pure Clay Glow Masks I was undeniably curious but, I never got around to actually purchasing it. So when the Pure Clay Glow Scrub came out I wasted no time. Bloggers and influencers were raving about the masks so I had high expectations for the scrub. Let me tell you about the product.

The Glow scrub consists of 3 clays: Kaolin (known to absorb impurities and excess sebum), Montmorillonite  (helps eliminate imperfections) and Ghassoul (renowned to help clarify complexion). The scrub also contains Red Algae which is known for its brightening properties.

I was a little sceptical when I read that the scrub promises immediate results but, I was pleasantly surprised. There was a noticeable difference right after the first use. My skin appeared to be more radiant and my pores were visibly tightened. I have to say that my favourite thing about the scrub ( apart from the mint packaging ) is the gorgeous smell. And I say gorgeous because it is literally that good.

For me, this scrub ticks all the boxes. First of all it is really easy to rinse off. I mean no one has time to spend rinsing and rinsing in the morning. The formula is really creamy and not harsh at all which makes it perfect for everyday use. It retails for R99,95 for 150ml and since you only use a little at a time it is definitely worth the purchase. Guys, I am really struggling to find any cons regarding this scrub. I really adore it.

What do you think about this scrub? What scrubs are you currently using? I would love to hear from you.

First impression: Palmer's Deep Conditioning Protein Pack

I love the idea of winter . I've created this fantasy in my head that it's all about cozy knits, delectable hot drinks and nights spent under a blanket with a good book. The reality however, is not as rosy. Winter can be harsh. Those early morning's as well as the weather wreaking havoc on my skin and hair is brutal. This is especially true when it comes to my hair. Winter has never loved my hair and the feeling is mutual. Which is why I have decided to put in a little  ( ok a lot) extra effort into taking care of my locks. I love deep conditioners and when I spotted this Palmers Deep Condioning Protein Pack I was excited to give it a try.

I am low key obsessed with coconut so anything that contains it immediately gets my attention. First of all, this hair mask smells incredible. I kept it on my hair for half an hour but, the smell lasted for almost 3 days. (Could have been longer but I was at a braai).

While I only used the protein pack once, I could see the difference instantly. It's perfect for dry, damaged and colour treated hair. It contains no sulphates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, gluten or dyes and the new advanced formula with monoi and vitamin E helps with hydrating, repairing and shine.

And now for the best part. It retails for R25 at Clicks. I am absolutely inlove with this product and I can't wait to use the rest of the products in the Palmer's range.

Have you used this hair mask before? I would love to hear from you.

Skirts in winter? Of course!

By the time I finally figured how to get the skirt/dress look right for summer we were at the beginning of our winter in South Africa. Needless to say I was not ready to let go yet. While it is much easier to just pull on a jeans and a coat, I decided that this winter I would be a little more experimental.

So when the colder days started to roll around I decided not to pack away my skirts and dresses; instead I started thinking of items I could add to make them more winter friendly. This suited my budget as well. While I always want to look my best, as a mother, I am always thinking of ways to save rather than splurge.
As per usual, I turned to the internet to get my dose of inspiration to aid me in my latest challenge. I have also decided that I want to do a few (decent) look posts soon, that is if I have the guts to actually take some pictures. I hope you guys enjoy the images.

These boots were made for...

Never in my life have I been so excited about a pair of shoes. When my boyfriend decided to get me my dream over the knee boots for my birthday I immediately started dreaming up a million ways I would wear it. As you can imagine...having a look in your head doesn't always translate perfectly in real life and that's exactly what happened to me.

I had a specific idea of how I wanted to wear it and when that didn't come together I was miserable. Miserable to the point where I wanted to cancel the plans I had . In an effort to cheer me up,  my boyfriend said something that really stuck with me. He told me that everything doesn't always work out the way we planned and that with fashion (and everything else) one should always be ready to switch things up and be flexible.

Yes, I went with a completely different look but, I still had an amazing time. (I didn't take any pictures however). I was a little ashamed of acting like a complete fashion brat but, it was mostly an eye opener for me. I really needed to stop being so fixated on the images I had in my head. I decided to wear the boots with some jeans and a plain t-shirt to run some errands. While the outfit is pretty basic; the boots give it a bit of an edge.

*Jeans and tshirt: Mr Price
*Necklace : TheFix
*Boots: Identity
*Rings: Lovisa
*Glasses : Gifted
Life and fashion can be unpredictable...from now, I'll be ready.

Olive Crush

Have you ever had a crush on a colour. Seriously guys. That's pretty much how I feel about olive green. Especially when it comes to fashion. I am often way too excited at the sight of this colour. Olive green is described as  a "dark yellowish-green colour like that of unripe or green olives" The colour looks especially striking with gold accents or, as I have recently discovered , with pink.

While a full olive ensemble might not be everyone's cup of tea, there are so many ways to introduce the hue into your wardrobe. I love light weight bomber jackets, high waisted shorts and floaty skirts. Olive green might not be your go to colour for spring but, its certainly a refreshing way to liven up your outfits.

What is your take on this colour? Do you think it'll make a big splash this year? If so,  how do you plan to incorporate it into your wardrobe? I would love to hear from you!

Beauty Blogger Tag

I have never done a tag post before so when I saw one on City Girl Vibe Blog I jumped at the chance. I was also very excited to do something that I don't normally do on my blog. I hope you enjoy reading it.

WHAT IS YOUR NATURAL HAIR COLOUR? DO YOU DYE IT YOURSELF OR GO TO THE SALON?
My natural hair colour is brown and it is not cute. I normally dye it at home because hair salons give me a little bit of anxiety.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU WASH YOUR HAIR?
Because I work so much I only manage to wash it twice a week. Which is actually just enough for me.

WILL YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT MAKE UP?
I often do. Sometimes I really cannot be bothered. Besides I think your skin needs to breathe a bit.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO DO YOUR MAKE UP?
During the the week, about 15-20 minutes. On weekends I'll spend a little more time. I like to experiment.

DO YOU READ THE COMMENTS ON YOUR POSTS?
Always! I love getting comments on my posts. It makes me feel amazing to be honest.

WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DO YOU USE FOR YOUR PHOTOS?
At the moment I am still using my phone but I plan to invest in a proper camera soon.

WHAT TYPE OF SKIN DO YOU HAVE?
Combination

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT FACIAL CLEANSER?
I am using POND'S pimple clear face wash which I love at the moment.

DO YOU HAVE FRECKLES?
No I don't but I find them very pretty.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE EYESHADOW COLOUR?
I love gold and bronze colours and I hardly ever stray from those neutral colours.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU POKE YOUR EYE OUT WITH AN EYELINER PENCIL?
Almost never. I've gotten pretty good with putting on my liner even without a mirror.

DO YOU USE PENCIL OR LIQUID EYELINER?
Pencil always. I'm not good with liquid eyeliner so I stick to pencil.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE LIPSTICK?
I love lipstick. My current favourite is this matte one from L.A. girl.

NAME A MAKE UP MISTAKE THAT YOU HATE?
I absolutely hate when your face and neck does not match. When you apply foundation it shouldn't look like you are wearing a mask.

DO YOU LIKE DRUGSTORE MAKE UP?
I adore drug store make up. That's how I spend most of my money.

I have to say I enjoyed doing this tag post very much. I tag anyone who would like to participate. Please tag me in your post because I would love to read your posts.

Peach Perfect

My love affair with cream eyeshadow started many,  many months ago and ever since then I have been on the look out for every possible cream eyeshadow I could find. A few weeks back I was pleasantly surprised when I spotted this Essence 2 in 1 waterpoof eyeshadow and liner. While they might not be the first brand coming out with a cream eyeshadow in a stick formula, I was intrigued because up to now I had used a brush to apply my cream eyeshadow. Lets talk about the product.

Peach Perfect (02) is ,as you can imagine, a beautiful peachy hue. The fact that it is a stick makes the application steady and uncomplicated. It saves me a ton of time in the morning.

Apart from the packaging being beautiful as usual, I love that the lid clips on tightly. With my luck, I always end up with missing caps and product all over my make up bag.

The pigmentation is AMAZING. The colour pay off is vivid and stays on all day long, which is a bonus. I have to admit that I have been paid alot of compliments since I started wearing this cream eyeshadow. While its very striking, it also looks very natural on my skin. It retails for about R54 and there are a few other shades that I am definitely going to purchase. I cannot wait!

Are you into cream eyeshadow? I would love to hear from you.
