Turn up the volume

Gigantic. Colossal. Call it what you want but, voluminous sleeves are having a moment. As with most of the trends, I noticed exactly how fashion bloggers and streetstyle royalty were opting for sleeves that are were to make a statement.

Soon I figured out that the trend had already been on a multitude of runways (which is probably how bloggers caught on). I have been thinking about the trend alot especially because I don't own anything particularly enormous when it comes to sleeves. But, before I indulge;  let's weigh the pros and cons of the trend.

*PROS
-Voluminous sleeves make a real statement. So even if you are wearing a really plain outfit; the sleeves will make you stand out.

-Listen, not everyone is particularly fond of their arms so you can cover up without making it obvious.

-The trend is super inclusive. You don't need to be a certain body type to wear it. Literally everyone can enjoy it.

- With a wide variety of materials and styles being offered on the runways; its safe to say that the trend is suitable for any season. Try light and flowy fabrics for summer and thicker, more structured pieces for the colder seasons.

*CONS
-The enormity of the sleeves might get in the way of your day to day activities and irritate the crap out of you.

I couldn't think of any other cons so I have successfully convinced myself (and hopefully you) to give the trend a try.

If you are not sure how to go about putting a look together please feel free to use the images in this post as inspiration. I would love to hear what you think about the trend or if there's any other trend that caught your eye.

Fit Me!

It's all fun and games until you see your foundation in natural light hey...Well that's definitely not the case when it comes to Maybelline's Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation. As far as matching your skin tone, this foundation is up there with the best of them. It promises to mattify and refine pores with blurring micro-powders. Not only does it match you skin tone but, also the texture thereof.

There was so many things I loved about this foundation. After trying on a few shades I settled for number 220 which ended up being perfect for my skin. The texture is liquid but, once you blend; it gives off a powdery consistency. I would have liked for it to give a little more coverage so I normally apply two thin layers to get the desired effect.

If you have problem or acne prone skin this might not be the best fit for you. However, if its a natural look you are after this foundation is perfect for you. My favourite thing about this foundation is that it never looks like I'm actually wearing foundation, WIN!

I would definitely recommend to everyone. Apart from it not giving the most coverage, there's really nothing else I can complain about. I am definitely going to repurchase. This is probably one of my top 3 foundations and the fact that I don't have to break the bank makes me so happy. Although its only 30ml it lasts a really long time. I give it a solid 8/10.

Have you tried this foundation. What are your thoughts? If you have a blog, drop your link in the comments section. I would love to check it out. :)

Life lately : January 2018

Welcome to 2018 everyone.

Hopefully your 2018 is off to a good start and 2017 has not done too much damage. For me;  2017 wasn't exactly the worst year but, there were a few moments of darkness that I would rather not relive. If last year has taught me anything, its that I can get through just about whatever life throws at me. Ultimately, 2017 has made me more resilient than ever.

This year started off in the most unexpected way. On the 1st of January I got engaged to the most amazing guy ever. Although I definitely had not anticipated that, I couldn't picture myself with anyone else.

I also started working in a new position in my current company. I have to admit it was daunting at first but, I feel like I'm easing into the role. As you might have guessed, this is my first "life lately " post for the year. If you are a first time reader, these posts consists of little snippets into my day to day. Nothing significant, just a little insight into everything that makes me tick.

My fiance and son are two of the most amazing people I know.

Beach days with the people I love.

OOTD. My son is an ace with the camera.

Lunch time shenanigans.

Always ready for a picture :)

Acessorizing at work.

My favourite moment of 2018!

And that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, I would love to hear from you. If you have a blog; drop your link in the comments section below. I'm all about finding new blogs this year.

TILL LATER, LAUREN!

Life begins at...Sobriety?

That seems to be the case for me. Let me start by saying, had it not been for a near death experience, I would certainly not be writing this...
