Style crush- Zendaya

Review: Metallic Eyeshadow from Hard Candy at BIRKEYE

Hey everyone

I was fortunate enough to receive some amazing products BIRKEYE recently and I am super excited to share this review with you guys. The metallic eyeshadow from Hard Candy ( they are stocked at the BIRKEYE online store along with some other awesome local and international brands) was undoubtedly new territory for me. Before I was a mom I was rather experimental with cosmetics but motherhood has made me rather conservative. Nevertheless I was determined to give these eyeshadows a fair chance. To my surprise, I didn't look as overdone as I suspected I would. However, it is still important that you keep the rest of your face natural.

 As with everything, not both of the shades suited me. While the blue shade (Electric 432) didn't look horrible on me, my eyes and I loved the green shade ( Jagged Jade 433) more. The packaging is really pretty and fits well in to even my smallest bag. The applicator also made the creamy product (it felt really good on my skin) easy to apply. Most importantly, it stays put all day but is super easy to remove at the end of the day. Both colours are super fun and easy to use. Perhaps I will do a make up tutorial really soon using them. Overall I would give it a 7/10.

How do you coat?

See what I did there? I totally turned it into a verb LOL anyway... While its not exactly cold enough to be pulling out my coat here in South Africa, I couldn't wait any longer to do this post. Wearing your coat over your shoulders is not a brand new trend but, its been especially prominent during the recent fashion weeks. I love how it has become a "thing" and I am sure I will spot a few ladies closer to home rocking their coats this way too come autumn/winter. Not only are the street style elite showing up in this trend but so are noted fashion designers, editors and celebs. While I have never worn my coat in this manner and I really cant imagine restricting my movement so that my coat doesn't slip off, I am certainly going to get a feel for this trend. So how do you coat? And will you be rubbing shoulders with the trend when the colder days arrive?

Review: Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub

I remember being a pimply faced teenager.  I also remember thinking nothing could be worse than being a pimply faced teenager. That was when my battle for clear skin began. I tried everything (lets not even make a list). Luckily, as an adult I became more aware of what my skin needs and I set out to find products that do not require all my money and time.

I bought this scrub at Foschini and it retails for just about R80. I have been using it for almost two months because I didn't want to do a post when I wasn't really familiar with the product.

What it says on the bottle

What I thought about  the product

If this product was a guy I could see us in a very long, very happy relationship. It's the one. I'll admit that what attracted me to the product at first was in fact the packaging. The girl in me gravitated towards the pink bottle. However, the scrub actually does the job it promised to do. After a few weeks of using it my skin looks radiant. Much to my delight I have been able to go out of the house without any BB cream or base on. Even though its a hard working scrub, it is gentle enough to be used everyday, BONUS! I have to add that the divine scent always puts me in a great mood too.

Overall I give this product 8/10 and I would most definitely recommend it!

Some Liebster fun

This is such a fun post for me to write....

I got nominated for my 3rd Liebster award but this time the tag was a bit different. Nabeelah (follow her @TheFabDiary) from the Fabulosity Diary (www.thefabulousitydiary.blogspot.com)  nominated me and instead of the usual 10 questions, she instructed us to relay ten random facts about ourselves. If you know me well, you'd know I might as well have been named Random LOL. So here goes..

• I don't like getting my ears wet when I wash my hair. I think it is absolutely disgusting and I hate the sweeshy noise wet ears make. 
• I cannot sleep unless my room is completely tidy at night. A dirty room freaks me and my OCD out.
• My favourite place has been the library ever since I won a book in grade 1.
• I think my son is the funniest person I know, he just might be smarter than a few grown ups I know as well and he is only 3.
• I started collecting nail polish last year and I try to have a different colour on my nails each week. Perhaps even more now thanks to the amazing beauty blogs I read.
• In an ideal world I would be a mother/singer/blogger. I think I can hold a note pretty well and I cannot see myself not blogging ever.
• If you want us to be friends please don't ever offer me beetroot or borrow shoes from me.
• The first blog I ever read was the Simply Siyaam blog and I immediately wanted to blog as well.
• I wear a size 4 which makes shopping for shoes like war, just know if we are going for the same pair I will fight you for it.
•   I am obsessed with magazines. I collect Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Grazia SA, ELLE, Seventeen and Teen Vogue

Second Liebster nomination!

Firstly, my apologies for being a little delayed with this post. A broken laptop puts a major damper on my blogging schedule. Nevertheless, if you think I was excited about my first nomination, you can imagine that I am ecstatic about the second. I discovered Namreen's blog "Life and times of the fireflies" recently and I was pleasantly surprised. (Thought provoking stuff I tell you but more on that at a later stage). Naturally being nominated by such an awesome blogger is a major compliment and honour.

1. What inspired you to start blogging?

           Emotionally, I was going through a really difficult time and I needed something to build my confidence and self esteem back up. I had been thinking of blogging for the longest time and it seemed like a good time to start.

2. Best childhood memory?

Going shopping with my parents was definitely always magical for me; that and being able to take ten books from our local library. It seemed like the coolest thing to me. (Nerd alert)

3. What is your favourite book?

I am such an avid reader that there is just too many good ones to pick one. I do, however want to reread a few now that I am older.

4.What is your ideal holiday destination?

This might seem a bit stiff but I would love to take my son to London or go to New York with my friends.

5. Your favourite tv programme is?

I adore the Carrie Diaries and anything CSI related. I also love reality tv and almost everything on Style Network.

6. What is your favourite blog post you have written?

A post called The pursuit of awesome.

7. Horror? Comedy? Thriller? Action? Romcom?
 I love romantic comedies but I find myself wanting to watch more thrillers lately.

8. What is your favourite thing to be blog about?
I love blogging about fashion especially street and celebrity style ,but I blog about whatever comes to mind now. No restrictions.

9. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

I am way too hard on myself and I almost never take credit for the things I do right. And I want thicker calves please!

10. What is your favourite fragrance?

I have a new favourite, it is Estee Lauder's Modern Muse
